Yoakum County Commissioners Court meets

The Yoakum County Commissioners Court convened at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27 in the District Courtroom of the County Courthouse in Plains, Texas, where they conducted their weekly meeting that had a very brief agenda.

Those in attendance included Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Tommy Box, and Tim Addison along with County Judge Jim Barron.

Others present for all or part of the session included County Clerk Summer Lovelace, County Auditor Darinda McWhirter, Sheriff David Bryant, CDA Bill Helwig, and County Judge Secretary Toni Jones.

During Public Comments County Judge Jim Barron informed the court there would be little changes in the county dealing with the COVID-19 virus. He did note some restaurants in Denver City had reopened, but for the most part most businesses have remained closed.

Moving into the agenda a motion was made to approve the paying of the bills which included County bills of $131,199.88 and hospital bills that totaled $77,627.05. Part time salaries were also approved.

County Clerk Summer Lovelace requested funds for two computers in her office. She informed the Commissioners she would need $3,320.88 for the purchase. Her request was unanimously approved.

The Court also unanimously approved the adoption of a budget calendar.

There were no road crossing permit applications, no request for the disposal of county equipment, one-line item transfer, and no Soil Conservation request.

The next scheduled Court session will be on Monday, May 11 starting at 10am in the district courtroom.
