Texas DPS will increase enforcement for the Fourth of July holiday

by Eric

DPS’ annual #FourthofJuly holiday traffic enforcement initiative kicks off today and runs through tomorrow. DPS Troopers will be on the lookout for people who are speeding, not wearing their seat belts, driving while intoxicated and committing other traffic violations.

Please celebrate responsibly and make safety your No. 1 priority on the road. Follow the tips to help everyone have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

๐Ÿšซ Donโ€™t drink and drive. Make alternate plans if youโ€™re consuming alcohol.

๐Ÿš“ Move Over or Slow Down for police, fire, EMS, TxDOT vehicles and tow trucks stopped on the side of the road with emergency lights activated.

๐Ÿš— Buckle up everyone in the vehicle โ€” itโ€™s the law.

๐Ÿšง Slow down, especially in bad weather, heavy traffic, unfamiliar areas or construction zones.

๐Ÿš™ Drive defensively, as holiday travel can present additional challenges.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Eliminate distractions while driving, including the use of mobile devices.

๐Ÿฅฑ Donโ€™t drive fatigued. Allow plenty of time to reach your destination.

๐Ÿšจ If you can Steer It, Clear It: If you are involved in a non-injury crash and your vehicle can be moved, clear the traffic lanes to minimize traffic impact.

๐Ÿš” Keep the Texas Roadside Assistance number [(800) 525-5555] stored in your phone. This number can also be found on the back of a Texas Driver License.
