Michael Chad Hasty

Michael Chad Hasty was born on October 13, 1982, in Arlington, Texas and delivered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on April 30, 2026.

Chad was a 7th generation Texan born of the same stock that gave Texas one of the founding pioneer families of Dallas County, the Merrifield’s. Chad grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas and was the only child of Michael & Kathy Hasty. He was a 2001 graduate of South Grand Prairie High School and received a degree in Mass Communications from Texas Tech University in 2007.

After graduating Chad went on to become the host of his own syndicated show The Chad Hasty Show and quickly rose to be a force in local, state and national politics. Known as the “Titan of Texas Talk Radio”, Chad was respected and trusted by all elected officials. Chad was employed by Town Square Media for 22 years where he was the host of many shows including his own. He also filled in for Mark Davis on his Mark Davis Show in Dallas, 660AM The Answer. Outside of his professional life, Chad was a man of faith who loved Jesus, Texas Tech football, a good whiskey, and firing up the grill with family every weekend he could.

Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents Don and Myra Hasty and Claude and Kathryn Isbell, all from Grand Prairie, Texas and his Great-Grandparents Tom and Myrtis Hasty of Minden, Louisiana and Thelma Merrifield and Clarence Painter of Dallas, Texas. He was also preceded in death by his aunts and uncles Charles and Susan Cantrell and Don and Janet Stringfellow.

Chad is survived by his wife Jennifer Ashley Cruz Hasty of Lubbock, Texas, his foster daughter, parents Michael and Kathy Hasty of Grand Prairie, father and mother-in-law Johnny and Sally Cruz, brother-in-law John Cruz of Lubbock, aunt Becky Hasty, aunt and uncle Doug and Jennifer Hasty, aunt Becky Melton, cousins Katie Hasty, Jacob Hasty, Jayden Hasty, Amy and Mitchell Foley, Angie and Nathan Strickland, Chris and Angela Cantrell, and David and Carla Sponsel. Also included are Jennifer’s family of Jeannette Cruz and Tom McDonald of Lubbock, Craig and Kimberly Connelly of Lubbock, Rudy and JoAnn Vargas of Lubbock, and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his Town Square Media family who loved him dearly.

Visitation for Chad will be held on Friday, May 29 from 6:00-8:00 in the evening at Sanders Memorial Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 30 at The Message, 5502 Auburn St, at 2:00 in the afternoon. Chad will be laid to rest at a private family graveside.
