Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, September 19, where the major part of the meeting was spent discussing rates for county owned buildings.

In the first two items the Commissioners unanimously approved not to participate in political subdivision worker’s compensation alliance followed by unanimously approving three resolutions.

Precinct #1 Commissioner Woody Lindsey presented some rates pertaining to renting rooms at the new Senior Citizens Building. For the large room the rental price will be $500 with a deposit of $200. There are also two smaller rooms that can be rented for $200 each with a $100 deposit or both rooms can be rented for $300 and a $150 deposit.

Lindsey did add if any of these rooms were rented in the morning that group would need to be out by 10 am so as not to interfere with lunches served at the facility. And if a group rented it in the afternoon if would need to be after the noon meal had been served and time allowed to clean up that area of the building.

These rates for the Senior Citizen Building would be effective immediately.

Moving on to other facilities Lindsey said the Party House at the Yoakum County Park can be rented for $200 with a $100 deposit.

The price for renting the Community Building in Plains will be $200 with a deposit of $100, a room in the Old Courthouse will be $50 with a $25 deposit, and the Stock Barns will be $300 with a deposit of $100.

These rates will be effective on January 1, 2017.

Taking up most of the discussion was swimming pool rates and renting county facilities which would enable an individual or groups to make a profit. Commissioner Tim Addison noted Stock Yard facilities were being rented by local residents, but being used by Cochran County residents.

It was agreed nothing would be decided about swimming pool rates and where that money was used until the Court could visit with pool managers in both Denver City and Plains.

Moving on there were no request for the disposal of county equipment, two line item transfers, and no Soil Conservation Request.

In discussing the new Denver City Community Building Judge Jim Barron presented a proposal of $6,720 for construction testing from Lubbock Labs. This proposal was unanimously approved.

In auditing and settling all accounts against the County the court approved to pay all bills and direct their payments.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Ty Earl Powell, and Tim Addison were all in attendance along with Judge Jim Barron.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, September 26, in the County Courthouse starting at 10 am.
