Two Lamesa Independent School District employees were arrested Thursday, September 10, after an ongoing law enforcement investigation into allegations of a computer security breach.
According to the Lamesa Police Department, investigators and the Texas Rangers obtained arrest warrants for two suspects after an ongoing investigation.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., Lamesa police investigators and Texas Rangers arrested 54-year-old Aurelino Garza on a charge of criminal responsibility for the conduct of another. Later that evening, at approximately 5:45 p.m., the Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Gabriel Flores in Stanton on a charge of breach of computer security.
Lamesa ISD confirmed that the two people arrested are district employees. According to the district, the allegations do not involve the disclosure or compromise of district data, including student, personnel or security information.
Instead, the investigation reportedly concerns the alleged deletion of records typically maintained by law enforcement.
The district also stated that there is no indication the matter involved the safety of students or staff or any financial impropriety. Lamesa ISD emphasized that students and staff were never placed in danger because of the situation.

The charges are allegations, and both individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
