Yoakum County Commissioners Approved Hospital Contract with Direct TV

The Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, August 22, where they addressed their weekly agenda.

County Treasure Barbara Wright was in attendance where she gave her monthly treasurer’s report. The beginning balance for the month of July was $45,396,180.81 and the ending balance was $44,933,435.82.

Precinct #4 Commissioner Tim Addison ask the Court to consider and take appropriate action regarding intergovernmental request from the City of Plains. Commissioner Addison told the Court it was concerning collection tanks east of Plains. A motion was made for the request and was unanimously approved.

The next item was concerning a food bill owed to Shinnery Oaks from the Senior Citizens. After some discussion it was decided that County Auditor Darinda D. McWhirter would call for an audit of from the Senior Citizens. This request was also unanimously approved.

Todd Carrillo of the Yoakum County Hospital was also in attendance to make a request to approve a contract between Yoakum County Hospital and Direct TV for television service at both the hospital and the dialysis center. Carrillo said after the upfront cost for installation and modulators for digital service the total monthly cost would be $212, down from the $1000 they were paying to their previous provider. After some discussions along with questions the contract between the hospital and Direct TV was unanimously approved.

Since the Court did away with the Veterans Service Office in their last meeting they unanimously approved a motion to disconnect the phone service in that office also.

            The Court also acknowledged memorial to Lela Warren from Ty and Linda Powell.

There were no request for disposal of county equipment and no line item transfers. However there was one Soil Conservation request from Darrell Barron in Section 418 which is in Precinct #3.

            After one once again taking no action on the Senior Citizen building Commissioner Woody Lindsey requested this item be taken off all future agendas.

            County Judge Jim Barron said all contracts had been signed for the new Denver City Community Building and the 300 day construction time started last Friday, August 19. WR Construction of Lubbock was awarded the bid on the new facility based on their low bid of $2,044,700.

The Court unanimously approved auditing and settling all accounts against the County and paying all bills.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Ty Earl Powell, and Tim Addison along with Judge Jim Barron were all in attendance.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, August 29 at 10 am in the County Courthouse.
