Plains High School held their academic awards Tuesday, May 17, 2016,  and showed its pride for the students who have worked diligently throughout the school year.  From achieving state qualification in several events, to just doing their best locally, Plains ISD was proud of its students, and so are we as a community.

Mr. Taylor, who is the High School Principal at Plains ISD, started the night off by quoting George Washington Carver:  “There is no short cut to achievement. Life requires thorough preparation – veneer isn’t worth anything.”

Here is a list of those who achieved recognition for all their hard work.

Brittany Michaelson received the F.W. Mattox Scholar Award - this is a full ride to LCU in Lubbock, Room Board and Education for 4 years.
The Arlon Alexander Memorial Scholarship was presented to Sydney Ramos.
The Masonic Lodge presented Scholarships to Callie Dean and Arista Davis.
The Lester Ericson Scholarships were awarded to Isaac Bocanegra, Madison Davis, and Ivan Parra. The Deborah Marion Scholarship was awarded to Moses Burgoin and Carla Rameriz.
Bailey Rios received the Save the Cowboy Scholarship.
Raylee Durahm and Lexi Flores, both received Texas Tech University Scholarships for High Academic Achievement in Mathmatics.
Brittany Michaleson received a scholarship from Lea County Electric.
The Sandy Land Water District: 1st Place Scholarship went to Brittany Michaleson, 2nd Place Scholarship went to Jezebel Guerra.
Valedictorian, Brittany Michaleson, and Salutatorian, Jezebel Guerra, both received SPC Scholarships for their academic achievements.
