0000314531-01-1_20160612Marilyn Jean Grimes Johnson, 66, of Midland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held at True-Lite Christian Fellowship on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev George Bell officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Emma Mosley; brother, Leroy Holt; and husband, Raydell Johnson. Marilyn was born on December 26, 1949 in Midland to Will and Viola Grimes. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Greater Ideal Baptist Church. She was 1968 graduate of Carver High School. Marilyn married Raydell Johnson and to that union two sons were born. Marilyn dedicated her life to raising her boys. She worked in the oil and gas industry for 30 plus years and retired from Oxy. During the last “oil boom,” she returned to the oil and gas industry with Cimarex, where she continued to work until she passed. She is survived by her sons, Rodney Johnson (Jamelia) of Flower Mound, Texas, and Rodrick (Jay) Johnson (Misti) of Midland; nine sisters, Donna Armstrong of Houston, Texas, Annie Brackens, Willie Grimes, and Jacquelyn Grimes, all of Midland, Jewel Grimes and Virginia Grimes of McKinney, Texas, Lorene Blaylock of Bedford, Iowa, Brenda Lemons of Odessa, Texas, and Ola Griffin of Denver City, Texas; three brothers, Tommy Grimes of Culver City, California, Daniel Grimes of Rankin, Texas, and Paul Grimes of Midland; and by her adorable grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the oncology unit at Midland Memorial Hospital, Hospice of Midland, Two Hearts Home Care, and doctors at Texas Oncology Midland. Please honor Marilynn’s request to celebrate her life by wearing the colors she loved – bright lively colors.
