DCISD would like to extend our CONGRATULATIONS to the WINTER GUARD CHAMPIONS!!
According to information released by Director Katie Blanco she revealed some very exciting news.
The director of the circuit that the DCHS Color Guard competes in decided he want to declare a championship among the schools that had competed throughout the year. With all of the closing and restrictions, DCHS wasn’t able to actually go and compete.
So, keeping this in mind the director decided to take one of the schools’ performances and they would judge that single performance that had been recorded.
Mrs. Blanco decided the kids had done so well at the Seagraves contest that she used that video.
“We were promoted to a much harder division just before championships and with this promotion, I really wasn’t expecting much,” she noted.
Moving up to that harder division the local group would be competing against Lamesa, Monterey, Lubbock High, Canyon Randall, Pecos, Andrews, and Roosevelt.
On Monday Blanco received the news that her group had emerged as the champions.
“I could not believe it,” she stated. “I am so very proud of these kids and all the hard work they put in.”
Below is the breakdown of all the scores from the other schools in their division:
1. DC – 75.75
2. Lamesa – 75.34
3. Monterey – 73.83
4. Lubbock High – 72.85
5. Canyon Randall – 72.48
6. Pecos – 72.36
