The South Plains Public Health District has confirmed the 4th and 5th cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Yoakum County.  At this time, the source of exposure is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.  The District will continue monitoring individuals as indicated by the CDC. The District’s disease surveillance team will continue working diligently to ensure the public remains at a low risk of contracting COVID-19.

The South Plains Public Health District and our health care partners will continue to monitor COVID-19 in the Yoakum County area to prepare for the possibility of more local cases. Please continue to follow proper hygiene recommendations and social distancing practices.

According to City Manager Stan David the two new cases to test positive for the coronavirus were both from Denver City, two females in their 60’s at different addresses. One of them has a direct tie to a city employee so the city will be looking at doing some testing of employees in the next few days.

More information will be released at a later date.
