Terry County Commissioners approve Hogue Addition

by admin

The Terry County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday morning, June 8 in the basement meeting room of the Courthouse. This was the first fully in person meeting for the Court since March. All Commissioners were present for the meeting.

The Commissioners approved a request from Brent Hogue to plat 95 acres our of the Northwest Quarter of Section 112, Block T to be known as the Hogue Addition to Terry County. Hogue and his attorney, Ryan Gentry met with the Court and explained the layout to the Court. Bridges Street will be the south boundary for the addition, with Highway 137 being the west boundary.

The Commissioners did vote to make illegal any bottle rockets or flying type fireworks for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday. This is due to the abnormally dry conditions in the area. The numbers have not yet reached the necessary stage for a complete burn ban, but look for that soon, if rains do not begin to fall.

The Commissioners urge everyone who is planning to use fireworks in the upcoming holiday to please exercise caution, due to the dryness of the area. CRP land or land that has wheat cover could go up in flames so easily. Also, users are urged to clean up after themselves when using fireworks on our County roadways.

Also on the agenda was the need to clean up around the old L7 Ranch House. This request from the Terry County Historical Commission will be taken care of by the Commissioners at a later date.

Otherwise, the agenda consisted of routine items. The Commissioners adjourned the meeting and then began their budget workshop session.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Commissioners Court will be on Monday, June 22 at 10 a.m.
