The Yoakum County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, February 16, where they addressed their weekly agenda.
After auditing and settling all accounts against the county and directing their payment, they moved forward with the rest of the agenda.
In their first item the council considered and took appropriate action on an agreement with Rene Bates Auctioneers, Inc. to conduct Online Auctions for Yoakum County. After some discussion the Commissioners unanimously agreed to the agreement.
In their next action they awarded bids to various companies for the purchase of gravel, hot and cold mix, and asphalt for the four precincts and Yoakum County Parks for the 2016 calendar year.
They also unanimously approved the appointment of Darinda McWhirter to a two year term as County Auditor of Yoakum County effective February 1, 2016.
There were no requests for the disposal of county equipment, no line item transfers, and no soil conservation request.
Precinct 1 Commissioner Woody Lindsey reported the new Senior Citizen building has been in operation for one week with high reviews from those who are eating their noon meal at the new center.
Precinct 2 Commissioner Ray Marion said he was expecting to see the final plans for the new Community Building before the end of February. It was also noted that a temporary building for all future elections has been placed on the east end of the property where the former building was located on 15th Street.
Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Ty Earl Powell, and Tim Addison were in attendance. County Judge Jim Barron was not in attendance.
The next meeting will be held on 10 a.m. Monday, February 22 in the County Courthouse.
