The Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, May 22, where they addressed their weekly agenda.

In the first item on the agenda the Court unanimously approved to pay County bills that totaled $417,996.35 and Medical facility bills that totaled $94,324.24.

Commissioner Tim Addison informed the Court a rodeo arena committee had been formed. He presented the names of Tanner Blount, Joe Pierce, and Brett Squyres to the court for their approval. He said Blount would be the chairman.

“These three gentlemen will be in charge of scheduling events and operations of all future events at the rodeo arena,” Addison said.

The Court unanimously approved the committee.

Shawn Jernigan of RMC group met with the Court to discuss services his company can provide for the County in dealing with insurance claims from damages of the April hail storm that hit Denver City causing millions of dollars of damages to facilities throughout the county, particularly in Denver City.

Located in Frisco, Texas, Jernigan is a senior building consultant and National Account Manager for RMC. He explained the primary purpose of his company is dedicated to assisting insurance professionals with resolving claims quickly, accurately and equitably.

He went on to explain that RMC has worked every major disaster in the U.S. for the last 20 years. It has extensive experience in construction estimating, dispute resolution, expert testimony and monitoring large projects.

He further explained RMC Group provides accurate and reliable cost and time analysis of commercial, industrial and residential property due to fire, water, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and other disasters. They service property causality providers throughout the United States. They will provide accurate and reliable repair estimates based on costs that can be supported.

Commissioner Woody Lindsey said this company comes highly recommended where upon he made the motion to use RMC Group with the handling of all claims dealing with county owned facilities. It was unanimously approved.

Next on the agenda Linda Patman met with the court to discuss action on a permit to conduct geophysical operations on county property located in Precinct #3. Judge Jim Barron noted his office had been contacted by Patman last week asking permission to conduct seismographic operations in the northwest part of the county. Even though he said there is just 15 total county acres involved there are more acres involved from individual owners.

After a discussion between Judge Jim Barron and Commissioner Tommy Box, which included payments to the private land owners, a motion was made to decline the permit for the operations on the 15 county owned acres. The motion was unanimously approved.

The Court acknowledged donations to the Yoakum County Libraries from Xtreme Powder Coating, Inc. and Thriftway Foods for the Summer Reading Program.

In the next item there were no request on various road crossing permit applications.

There were request for disposal of items from the libraries. These included three laser jet printers and four chairs.

There were no line item transfers and one soil conservation request from Jim Fraser on Section 399 in Precinct #3.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey and Ray Marion informed the Court there was a considerable amount of hail damage to the roof on the new Denver City Community Building. Since Shawn Jernigan was still in attendance he informed the Commissioners he would go to the location and check out the damage and go from there on how best to address the issue.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Tommy Box, and Tim Addison along with Judge Jim Barron were all in attendance.

Due to next Monday, May 29, being Memorial Day the regular meeting has been moved to Tuesday, May 30 at 10 am.
