Yoakum County Commissioners Court Meets March 9

The Honorable Commissioners Court of Yoakum County Convened at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9 in the Commissioners Courtroom of the County Courthouse in Plains, Texas, notice of SPECIAL meeting having been duly posted as required by law.

After looking over the bills a motion was made and unanimously approved to pay the bills. This included County bills that totaled $458,102.02 and Hospital bills that totaled $232,285.45. Also unanimously approved was the Part-Time Payroll which included Election Salaries from the March 3 General Election.

Included on the agenda was the approval of several monthly reports. Treasurer Darla Welch reported to the Court the county had a February beginning balance of $52,974,025.85 and an ending balance of $61,614,775.86. She was followed by Tax Assessor/Collector Jan Parrish who reported her office had collected $7,035,308.68 during the month of February.

Other departments that acknowledged receipt of monthly reports as noted by County Judge Jim Barron were the County Clerk, the District Clerk, and the Justice of the Peace, Precinct #2.

Moving to the next item the Court unanimously approved Sheriff David Bryant’s request from equipment that totaled $33,947.71 for computers from 2020 funds instead of 2019.

Stakeholders Oil requested two road crossings in Precinct #2, several request for the disposal of county equipment was made from both the Sheriff’s office and the Plains Library, no line item transfers and one Soil Conservation request was made in Precinct #3 from Stanley Ashburn on Section 400.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Tommy Box and Tim Addison along with County Judge Jim Barron were all in attendance.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, March 16 at 10 am in the County Courthouse.
