Yoakum Co. Commissioners Court June 12

by admin

The Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, June 12, where they addressed their weekly agenda.

After reviewing the minutes from the 2017 March, April, and May meetings the Commissioners unanimously approved to audit and settle all accounts against the county and direct their payments. The county had total bills of $124,547.04 and hospital and medical bills that totaled $224,269.69.

County Treasurer Barbara Wright was in attendance to give her monthly report. She reported that the beginning May county balance was $50,335,441.06 and the ending May balance was $49,054,735.16.

Tax/Assessor Collector Jan Parrish was also in attendance to give her May report. She informed the Court her office had collected $54,693.26 in revenue during the month. The court unanimously approved both reports.

Following these two reports County Judge Jim Barron had revenue reports from the Sheriff’s office, County Clerk’s office, District Clerk’s office, and Justice of the Peace #2 office.

In the next item the Commissioners awarded a bid for a reclaimer. There were two bids submitted: Warren Cat submitted a bid of $452,982 and Yellowhouse Machinery submitted a bid of $425,000. After a brief discussion, the bid from Yellowhouse was approved.

Following this action Judge Barron had put a possible fireworks ban on the agenda to see how the Court felt about this with a county burn ban in effect. It was noted the burn ban would not be in effect at the end of next week, unless the Commissioners wanted to extend it for another period of time. It was noted that a fireworks ban would need to go into effect before June 15. None of the Commissioners felt like a fireworks ban was necessary so no action was taken on this item.

There were no road crossing permit applications, no request for disposal of county equipment, three-line item transfers, and no Soil Conservation request.

County Commissioners Woody Lindsey and Ray Marion had no updates on the new Denver City Community Building. The anticipated completion date for new Community Building is the end of July.

Being no further business the court adjourned at 10:30.

A budget work session followed the regular meeting.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Tommy Box, and Tim Addison along with County Judge Jim Barron were all in attendance.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 19, at 10 am in the County Courthouse.
