A high turnout in the Republican primaries on Tuesday, March 1, resulted in two future runoff elections.
In a four man race for Sheriff Jerry Howard and David Bryant will go at it one more time since neither one received the majority of the votes.
Howard received 641 votes, which represented 40.7% of the votes while Bryant received 542 votes, which was 34.4% of the votes.
Also running was Brad Taylor, who received 343 votes, and Raymond Sanchez with 48 votes.
The second runoff will be for Precinct 3 Commissioner where three men were vying for that position. Tommy Box was the top vote getter with 184 (49.7%), Joe Martinez received 96 votes (25.9%) followed by Chris Blundell with 90 votes (24.3%).
Had Box received one more vote a runoff would not have taken place since he would have received 50% of the 370 votes.
Those runoffs will be on May 27.
In other results incumbent Woody Lindsey successfully defended his Precinct 1 Commissioners seat edging hopeful Keith Durham. Lindsey received 208 votes and Durham had 181.
Jan Parrish, who was running unopposed for the County Tax Assessor/Collector received 1,295 votes and Jay Kim Davis, also running unopposed, received 1,110 for the Republican County Chairman.
For the District 19 U.S. House of Representatives Yoakum County went with Glenn Robertson 487 votes. Finishing in the second spot was Jodey Arrington 350 and finishing in third in the 8 man race was Michael Bob Starr who received 198.
This was the same trend for the entire District 19 voting as Robertson received 26,860, Arrington received 25,942, and Starr received 19,879 meaning Robertson and Arrington will also be a runoff on May 27.
In the Presidential race Ted Cruz received 685 county votes and Donald Trump received 402. Throughout the state Cruz also won with 1,239,158 votes and Trump received 757,489.
There were no local candidates on the Democratic side so the Republican winners will all run unopposed in the November election and will take office on January 1, 2017.
