The Fillies used two big innings late in the game to push past Tahoka 20-7 Tuesday on the Lady Bulldogs home turf.
After the Fillies went up 5-0 in the 2nd inning Tahoka rallied back with 5 runs of their own to tie things up heading into the 4th inning. The Fillies plated 3 runs in their half of the 4th inning and then tacked on some insurance runs with 5 in the 5th and 7 more in the top of the 7th for the big win.
Jewell Santillan, Julie Barrientes, and Heidi Gonzales paced the Fillies with 3 hits and 2 RBI’s each. Haleigh Gonzales and Kathleen Chavez all finished with 2 hits, and Hanna Gonzales, Isela Chavez, Denisse Saenz, and Haley Villerreal all had one hit.
Haleigh had 3 RBI’s while Jewel, Kathleen, and Denisse all had 2 RBL’s
Haleigh started on the mound for the Fillies and went two and a third innings giving up 4 runs on 3 hits, struck out 3, and walked 2. Jewell came on in relief going the final 4 and two thirds innings. She gave up 3 runs on 6 hits, struck out 4 and had no base on balls.
The win upped their season record to 3-2.
After taking part in the Seminole tournament over the weekend they will be traveling to Lubbock Estacado on Tuesday.
