After dropping their district opener to Idalou the Mustangs came back behind the pitching of freshman Luis Rodriquez to even their district mark at 1-1 with an 8-0 win over Post.
Rodriquez faced just 22 batters in 7 innings, giving up one hit and striking out 13 of those batters raising his season record to 2-0.
The Mustang offense gave Rodriquez support coming up with two runs in the top of first, adding three more in 4th, two in the 5th, and closing out their scoring with a single run in the 6th.
Cameron Garcia, Ivan Villarreal, and James Chatham all finished with two hits, while Braden McGary, Aaron Villarreal, Broedy Burris, and Jeremy Castillo each had one hit.
Both Ivan and Aaron came up with 2 RBI’s each while Chatham had the other RBI. Six Post errors led to the other 3 Mustang runs.
The Mustangs stranded 14 runners and had no errors.
They will host Roosevelt on Saturday and then travel to Brownfield on Tuesday.
