Harold Brown, age 88 of Denver City, Texas will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Denver City with Pastor David Hollon officiating and Rev. Gregory Brown assisting. Burial will follow at Denver City Memorial Park. All services are under the direction of Boyer Memorial Chapel of Denver City, in association with Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Nazarene memorial fund.

Mr. Brown was born August 26, 1928 in Wickes, Arkansas to Lilly Mae (Bates) and Richard Leander Brown. He married Vera Stewart in Topeka, Kansas on July 28, 1950. He was a member of the Denver City Nazarene Church where he served as pastor and an ordained elder for six years and an associate pastor for twenty years. Reverend Brown held a Master of Divinity Degree and served as a pastor a total of forty-one years. He and his wife Vera served in the mission fields for nine years which included six years in South Africa, two years in Ireland and one year in the Philippines. He served as district superintendent of the pioneer field in Ireland. He also held many other district offices. He was known as a fix-it man and an avid gardener, and he lived his life serving people. He was a very compassionate person who loved his family dearly.

Rev. R. Harold Brown passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his home in Denver City, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and six sisters. He is survived by his wife, Vera Brown of Denver City, Texas; three sons, Richard L. Brown and wife Christine of Gardner, Texas, Timothy D. Brown of Denver City, Texas, and Gregory R. Brown and wife Beverly of Fruitland Park, Florida; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
