Mustangs Defeat Lubbock Trinity

The Mustangs used 7 runs over the first three innings to run past visiting Lubbock Trinity 9-3 on Super Tuesday on the Mustang diamond.

After Trinity opened the game with a single run in the top of the first the Mustangs came back with 2 in their half of the inning. Trinity regained the lead with 2 in the top of the 2nd, but the Mustangs came back with 3 more in their half of the inning to take the lead for good.

Isaac Yanez paced the Mustangs with 2 hits while Cameron Garcia, Broedy Burris, and Braden McGary all had one hit each.

The Mustangs took advantage of 6 Trinity errors to plate 8 unearned runs.

Garcia started the game for the Mustangs, but was relieved in the 2nd inning after giving up 3 runs and issuing 6 base on balls. Israel Vasquez came on in relief and went four and a third innings. He allowed just one hit, struck out 7 and giving up 4 walks. McGary finished up the game with one inning where he struck out 2 of the three batters he faced.

After taking part in the Monahans tournament over the weekend they will travel to Littlefield on Tuesday and then host Morton in a 5 pm game on Friday.
