Henry Franklin Floyd, 86, of Seagraves, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at his home in Seagraves. Services will be held at 10AM, Thursday, April 17th at the First Assembly of God Church in Seagraves. Pastor L.D. Hinson will officiate. The burial will be at the Seagraves Cemetery under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.
Henry was born in Brownfield, TX on March 19, 1939, to the late Owen Franklin Floyd and Eunice Anderson Floyd. Henry graduated from Loop High School. He was drafted into the military and honorably served with the US Army while stationed at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas and Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah.
After returning home he married the love of his life, Glyda Faye (Langehennig) Floyd and remained a devoted husband for more than 56 years until her death in 2021. Henry and Glyda Faye had two sons, Owen and Chad. He was a loving and committed father, tirelessly supporting his sons in all their endeavors throughout their lives.
Henry had a career with Amerada Hess as a lease operator for approximately 30 years. Upon retiring at age 55 from the oil field, he went back to work for his brother-in-law’s concrete company. Henry had many talents and hobbies. He inherited a love for music from his father and carried on the tradition of playing fiddle, mandolin and guitar with family and friends. He was an avid gardener and loved camping with his family in the Colorado mountains.
Henry was a man of integrity who exhibited a quiet strength. His love for Jesus was evidenced by his kindness, gentle spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but as followers of Jesus Christ we look forward to reuniting in Heaven one day.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife. He is survived by his sons Owen Floyd and wife Diana of Johnson City, TX, and Chad Floyd and wife Janice of Lubbock, TX; three sisters, Venita Hand of Loop, TX, Emma Della Floyd of Lamesa, TX, and Oneita Poehl of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Daniel Floyd, Racheal Fonseca and Pete Floyd, nine great-grandchildren; Jeremy, Joshua, Jaelyn, Jaxon, John, Owen, Logan, Sydney and Hadley and many loving nieces and nephews.
