The Denver City Winter Guard team competed in their last competition of the season on Saturday April 9th where they finished in 2nd place in what is considered their championship round.

Competing against Snyder, Alpine, Estacado, Pecos, and Lamesa this group turned in what was probably their best performance of the year only to be edged by Lamesa.

After all the tabulations were completed the Denver City team came up with 91.6 points and Lamesa finished in 1st place with 91.8 points.

“These kids gave the best performance of the season; unfortunately the judges just didn’t see it that way and Lamesa edged us out of the top spot with a score of 91.8 and we had 91.6,” Coach Katie Blanco said. “I couldn’t be prouder of these kids, they worked extremely hard this year. Please take time to congratulate all of them on an outstanding season.”

In the final standings Lamesa was 1st with 91.8 points, Denver City was 2nd with 91.6, Pecos was 3rd with 87.6, Alpine was 4th with 83.0, Estacado was 5th with 78.6, and Snyder was 6th with 72.2.

Congratulation to Mrs. Blanco and her Winter Guard team.
