With Jared Goff getting a new contract worth 212 million dollars and $170 million guaranteed from the Detroit Lions, left many speculating what Dak Prescott’s future contract would be worth. I’m here to tell you, give him nothing, absolutely nothing. But whatever the going rate for quarterbacks, he’s not worth it. How many times as Cowboys fans have, we watched him fail us repeatedly? How many playoff losses do we have to go through to know he’s not the guy for us? Give Tony Romo the talent that Dak Prescott had, and he would at least get us to the NFC championship. Sure, Romo had his blunders, but the man was running for his life half the time and the other half he was dead out there on the football field. Prescott says the right things to the media, blaming himself for his mistakes, but that’s not something to praise. That’s a basic character trait children are taught at a young age. A politician says the right things on camera if the heat gets removed. As Cowboys fans we should be fed up with his play, he can play great in the regular season but no show in the postseason. The opposite of Joe Flacco, the former Ravens QB. He played terribly in the regular season but at least he showed up in the postseason. Even got his team a Super Bowl ring.

Sports media would have Prescott in the top 10 for quarterback and maybe it’s more stat-focused than watching the tape. Here are two quarterback stats for this past season, one being Dak’s and the other a player that some would call a game manager. Person A: 69.5% Completion percentage, 4,516 passing yards, 36 TDs, 9 INTs, and a QB rating of 105.9. Person B: 69.4% completion percentage, 4,280 passing yards, 31 TDs, 11 INTs, 113 QB rating. Person A was Dak Prescott and person B was Brock Purdy, the same Brock Purdy that helped lead his team to a Super Bowl appearance.
The next argument some would say is, “Well, Purdy has Kyle Shanahan, and we have big ole Mike McCarthy” which is true. The San Francisco head coach is an amazing playcaller, but Prescott has had three different offensive systems in place to find what works for him and still stumbles over himself at times. We had the Jason Garrett system, Kellen Moore’s system that Dak raved so much about. Then McCarthy said enough is enough, I’m going to pull back the reigns and have you play within my offensive system. All you need to do is make the right read and throw the ball with accuracy, which Purdy is asked to do, and Prescott cannot do the job as well as Purdy.
This is my opinion on what we should do for the NFL draft next season, follow what the Chiefs did to get Patrick Mahomes. Sell off our draft picks, move heaven and earth to get Quinn Ewers, Shaduer Sanders depending on his play this upcoming season, or my dark horse QB the Utah Utes Cam Rising. At least with this scenario, we can assume that the QB and head coach are gone. We can take a first-year QB step into a new system with a new coach in Dallas and take care of our guys who are already on the team. But what do I know, I’m just a loyal Cowboys fan who has seen this movie on repeat way too many times. With that,i’ll use Prescott’s pre-snap phrase before the ball snaps to summarize the upcoming season. “Here we go!”
