The Commissioners Court of Yoakum County Convened at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom of the County Courthouse in Plains, Texas, notice of SPECIAL meeting having been duly posted as required by law.
The following members who were present included County Judge Jim Barron, Precinct #1 Commissioner Woody Lindsey, Precinct #2 Commissioners Ray Marion, Precinct #3 Commissioner Tommy Box, and Precinct #4 Commissioner Tim Addison.
Others present for all or part of the session included County Clerk Summer Lovelace, County Auditor Darinda McWhirter, County Treasurer Darla Welch, Sheriff David Bryant, County Judge Assistant Toni Jones, and Yoakum County Hospital Representative Collin McLarty.
There being no public comments the Commissioners started their session with the payment of all bills. A motion was made by Commissioner Marion to approve paying the County bills that totaled $179,730.19, Hospital bills that totaled $97,839.95 and Part-Time Payroll as presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Box and was unanimously approved.
Yoakum County Hospital representative Collin McLarty was present to inform the Court of the problems the hospital was having with the current generator. He noted a new one would be needed to replace the one currently used since it only provided electricity for about half of the hospital. After explaining the details the Court unanimously approved a motion by Commissioner Lindsey and seconded by Commissioner Addison to approve the hospital generator bid with Smith Powers (COVID Emergency Preparedness) for a $94,000 generator and an additional $23,000 for transfer switch with $8,000 trade-in value. The motion was unanimously approved.
In the next item the Court unanimously approved a motion from Commissioner Lindsey to advertise for bids for two pickups for Precinct #1. The advertisement will run on August 27 and September 3, opened on September 4, and awarded on September 7.
There were no request for the disposal of county equipment, no line item transfers, and no Soil Conservation request.
The next Court meeting will be on August 31 at 10am in the County Courthouse.
