Barboza vs. Murphy

If you watched last Saturday’s UFC fight night, it was fun, and the main card was thrilling. Before I get into that I have to say Barboza knocked Murphy out at the end of the round one and if there were ten more seconds on the clock, he would’ve won that fight right then and there. That leg kick landed clean on Murphy’s head when he came in. You can see it clear as day that Murphy’s body went limp.

The fight would continue, this time Murphy would display his toughness by taking on Barboza’s leg kicks. Murphy would retaliate with a constant assault with fists and elbows. Therefore, pushing Barboza to the cage, where Murphy would try to take down Barboza. Round three would be dominated by Murphy, throwing, and landing whatever punch he wanted. As the fight continued, you couldn’t help but wonder if Barboza still wanted to fight. Not the actual fight itself but if he still had that fire and passion for fighting. Because it did not look like he did to me.

By the time it was all said and done. Barboza took one hundred and seventy-two hits to the head. Murphy’s total strikes to Barboza would be two hundred and fifty-nine. The fight would finish all five rounds even though by round four we all knew who would eventually go on to win. Murphy would go on to hear his name said and have his arm raised declaring him the victor. After this fight, I think Edson Barboza needs to reevaluate himself and decide if he wants to continue fighting. With him receiving that much damage to the head, his team, family, and himself need to discuss what’s best for him. With this fight night in the books, we can look forward to UFC 302 where Dustin Poirier will be taking on the camp Islam Makhachev.
