Brownfield Lady Cubs Build Momentum with Back-to-Back District Volleyball Wins
Lady Cubs Sweep Lamesa, Defeat Stanton as Denver City and Coahoma Await

The Brownfield Lady Cubs volleyball team is finding its rhythm at just the right time, putting together an impressive week of district competition with victories over Lamesa and Stanton. With confidence growing and key players returning from injury, the Lady Cubs look to carry that momentum into another challenging week.
Brownfield opened last week’s action with a convincing three-set sweep of the Lamesa Lady Tornadoes before returning home Saturday to defeat the Stanton Lady Buffaloes in four sets. The two victories showcased a Lady Cubs squad that continues to develop its chemistry, consistency, and confidence as the season progresses.
Head Coach Angelica Garibaldi (Coach G.) shared her excitement about the team’s recent performances and the progress being made on the court.
“We had a great week last week, beating Lamesa in three sets and then defeating Stanton at home on Saturday in four sets. The girls played some of their best volleyball of the season, and I’m really proud of the growth, effort, and confidence they are showing on the court.” said Coach G.
The victories reflect the team’s continued improvement, with players showing greater discipline and determination in crucial moments.
Looking Ahead: Denver City and Coahoma
The road won’t get any easier for Brownfield as the Lady Cubs prepare for two important district matchups this week.
Brownfield will host the Denver City Fillies on Wednesday, then take on the Coahoma Bulldogettes on Saturday. Both opponents will provide strong competition as the Lady Cubs look to build on their recent success.
One encouraging development for Brownfield is the return of several players who missed the first meetings against these opponents because of injuries. Their return could provide additional depth and experience as the team enters another important stretch of district play.
“We’re excited about the momentum we’re building as we continue moving forward,” Coach G said. “We know both teams will present a tough challenge, but we’re looking forward to the competition. We also have a few girls returning from injuries who were out when we played these teams earlier in the season, and we’re excited to have them back and ready to compete.”

Confidence and Improvement Remain the Focus
While the recent victories have provided a boost, the Lady Cubs understand that continued improvement will be essential as the district schedule moves forward.
The coaching staff continues to emphasize discipline, teamwork, and trusting the preparation that has brought the team to this point.
Coach G said, “Our focus is on continuing to improve, staying disciplined, and trusting the work we’ve put in. This group is working hard, believing in one another, and continuing to grow, and we’re excited to see what we can accomplish as we head into this next stretch of the season.”
With two consecutive victories, renewed confidence, and a healthier roster, the Lady Cubs have plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
The challenge now is to turn that momentum into continued success against Denver City and Coahoma as Brownfield looks to finish its district campaign on a strong note.

The Wellman-Union Lady Cats volleyball team continues to build momentum as the district season moves into an important stretch. Coming off another successful week that included victories over Southland and Loop, the Lady Cats are gaining confidence, showing resilience, and preparing for two significant matchups this week.
With contributions from several players and a determined team effort, Wellman-Union showed both offensive firepower and the ability to battle through adversity.
Lady Cats Sweep Southland, Outlast Loop
Wellman-Union opened last week’s action Tuesday with an impressive three-set sweep of the Southland Lady Eagles.
The Lady Cats featured a balanced offensive attack, with Katy Friesen and Emalyn Navarro leading the way at the net. Both players recorded eight kills, helping Wellman-Union control the match offensively.
Jerzee Harlan also delivered an outstanding performance from the service line, recording an impressive 10 aces. Her aggressive serving helped keep Southland on its heels and provided valuable momentum throughout the contest.
Saturday’s matchup against the Loop Lady Longhorns proved to be a much tougher challenge.
On their home court, the Lady Cats found themselves in a competitive, back-and-forth battle that went to five sets.
Wellman-Union responded under pressure, showing toughness and composure to secure the hard-fought win.
Navarro once again sparked the offense, leading the team with 11 kills, while Ansley Brown followed closely with 10. Sophia Martinez also contributed significantly, racking up several aces from the service line.
Beyond the individual performances, the victory highlighted the team’s determination and ability to stay focused when facing adversity.
“We are proud of the determination and resilience we showed, staying together and finding a way to finish a challenging match,” the coaching staff shared.
The two victories gave another confidence boost to a Lady Cats squad that continues to improve as the season progresses.

Looking Ahead: Senior Night Against Wink and a Big Matchup at Klondike
Wellman-Union now turns its attention to another important week of volleyball, beginning with a special evening at home.
The Lady Cats will host the Wink Lady Wildcats on Tuesday, October 20, for Senior Night, an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the senior players who have contributed to the program.
Beyond the celebration, the matchup gives Wellman-Union another chance to sharpen its execution and keep building momentum.
After Tuesday’s contest, the Lady Cats will travel to Klondike on Saturday, October 24, for another challenging district showdown.
Klondike tested the teams earlier this season, making Saturday’s rematch an opportunity for Wellman-Union to measure its progress and show how much the team has developed.
The Lady Cats understand that success against strong competition will require discipline, communication, and consistent execution on both sides of the net.
Lady Cats Focused on Finishing Strong
As the district schedule continues, Wellman-Union remains focused on improving each time it takes the court.
The coaching staff has emphasized preparation, teamwork, and trusting one another in critical moments.
“We are encouraged by the progress we continue to make and confident that we are moving in the right direction. With a demanding week ahead, our focus remains on sharpening our execution, supporting one another, and turning our preparation into success on the court.”
With back-to-back victories over Southland and Loop, the Lady Cats have shown they can win in different ways, whether through a dominant three-set performance or a hard-fought five-set battle.
Now, with Senior Night against Wink and a challenging road trip to Klondike on the horizon, Wellman-Union hopes to turn its growing confidence into another successful week.
The Lady Cats are determined to keep improving, competing together, and finishing the district season on a strong note.
