Bobby Ray Avery, 67, of Sundown passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026. Visitation will be on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Krestridge Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Sundown School Auditorium.
Bobby was born March 27,1959 in Morton to Donald Ray and Lois Ann Collins Avery. He grew up in Whitharral with his parents, Don and Lois and siblings, Donna and Jimmy. After graduating from Texas Tech, he coached six-man football for 42 years. Bobby coached at Santo, Loop, Borden County, Whitharral and Meadow. The love of his life, LaNita whom he married on December 21, 1989 in Whiteface, accompanied him throughout all his coaching stops as his number one fan. His children Brandon and Avery are tied for the number two spot. Throughout the years, Bobby kept strong in his Christian faith and active in his church where he attended Kings Ridge Church of Christ along with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Lois Avery.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, LaNita Avery; children, Brandon Avery and Avery Avery; sister, Donna Wheeler and husband, Vernon; brother, Jimmy Avery and wife, Valerie; along with a host extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
