One suspect has been arrested for the three individuals shot at the The Lounge bar.
Early Sunday morning July 2, 2023, between 1:45 am and 2:20 am a pair of shootings took place in Brownfield. One shooting happened at “The Lounge” a bar located at the Crystal Palace Inn 1303 Tahoka Rd, the second shooting took place in the 200 block of South Ballard between the 800 blocks of Broadway and Tate. There were multiple victims in the shootings. The victims were transported to BRMC with unknown injuries. At least two victims were care flighted to a Lubbock hospital.
According to the Brownfield Police Dept.(BPD), three individuals were shot, one woman and two men and another woman has a broken arm from the fight that ensued prior to the shooting.
Witnesses said that an argument began inside the bar and was taken outside right in front of the The Lounge. The suspect Braxton Gil (24) pulled a firearm and began to shoot. Three were shot at that location. Gil fled the scene.

Gil was apprehended before 10:00 am Sunday morning July 2, 2023. He has been booked into the Terry County Jail on three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Currently he is still held with no bond.
Also according to BPD, there is not a link or connection to the second shooting that occurred in 200 block of South Ballard. The victim of that shooting is a female and is currently in critical condition at a Lubbock hospital. The BPD has not named a suspect in this shooting.
