Yoakum County Commissioners issued a burn ban for all of Yoakum County during their weekly meeting held on Monday morning.
Since all of Yoakum County is under severe drought conditions it was recommended that a burn ban would be issued. The ban will last for 90 days unless a significant amount of rain is recorded in the county.
It has been noted that Denver City has not had any recorded measurements of moisture over the last 100 plus days. That string ended on Sunday night when .37 up to .58 were recorded.
Fire Chief Cody Freeman reported to the Press there were four grass fires and two dumpster fires on Saturday after the fireworks display. Very little damage was noted in any of these outbreaks.
Everyone is reminded and asked to have common sense during these drought conditions. No outside fires are allowed anywhere in the county during the burn ban.
