The Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, April 10, where they addressed their weekly agenda.
In the first item on the agenda the Court unanimously approved to pay County bills that totaled $548,117.04, which included $374,231.41 applied to new buildings, and Medical facility bills that totaled $250,392.59.
County Tax Assessor/Collector Jan Parrish was in attendance and gave her monthly report. She reported to the Court that her office had collected $191,014.44 in various fees during the month of March.
Also present was County Treasurer Barbara Wright to give her report. She reported the county had a beginning balance of $50,590,093.98 and an ending balance of $51,619,153.04.
Other monthly reports were also presented by County Judge Jim Barron. These included reports for the Sheriff’s office, Justice of the Peace #1, County Clerk, and District Clerk.
Precinct #4 Commissioner Tim Addison asked the court to table action on rental fees for the Plains Community Building. It was agreed this would be discussed during a work session and would once again be placed on the agenda for the next meeting.
There was one road crossing in Precinct #3 unanimously approved. Commissioner Tommy Box informed the Court there would be two lines in the crossing, which will be bored, that will contain one line for water and one line for oil.
There was one computer related item for the Extension Office that was approved to be disposed of, no line item transfers, and no Soil Conservation request.
Commissioners Ray Marion and Woody Lindsey reported that work was progressing on the new Denver City Community building. Commissioner Marion said he was expecting the work to be completed in July with an open house set for some time in August.
At the end of the meeting Sheriff David Bryant informed the Court he was expecting his department to receive the grant they had earlier applied for would be approved. The grant was for laptop computers to be placed in each patrol vehicle to help speed up daily reports each officer is responsible for.
Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Tommy Box, and Tim Addison along with County Judge Jim Barron were all in attendance.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 17 at 10 am in the County Courthouse.
