Week 5 begins tonight Sept. 25th for Texas High School Football! All three Terry County Teams will be at home Friday night: Brownfield vs Littlefield, Meadow vs Wilson (Homecoming), and Wellman-Union vs Hart (Homecoming). Last week, I scored 71 out of 90. I hope to get 80 this week.
Here are some games of interest in week 5:
Shally (2-2) @ Idalou (2-2), two of the South Plains’ premier teams and rivals, will go at it. I’m going with Shally.
Wink (3-1) @ Coahoma (4-0): The Wildcats are #7 in Class 2A DII, and Coahoma is not at all in the Top-10 in Class 3A DII. If they win this week, their resume should pu them in the Top-10 after their wins against #4 Albany last week. I have the Bulldogs.
Waco La Vega (3-1) @ Stephenville (4-0): Both teams are ranked… The Ville is #4 in 4A DI and La Vega is #5 in 4A DII. Don’t let the two divisions fool you, because they are not far off in size of each other. This game is played in the new Art Briles stadium, and if youve seen it… well lets say its nice. I have The Ville on this one, barely, but they should win.
Albany (3-1) @ Anson (4-0): If there is team that the Anson Tigers would want to really beat, it is the Albany Lions. For years out in the Big Country, all people hear about is Albany or Stamford. I feel Anson has this one, however it should be close.
Sands (3-1) @ Robert Lee (4-0): If youve never watched a six man football game, this might be a good one to go to if you traveling through the Canch Valley. Both squads have similar opponents, Loraine and Garden City and both Sands and Robert Lee placed the 45-point mercy rule on them. I’ve got Sands in this one.
District 2-5A DI begins this week: Abilene HS, Amarillo HS, Amarillo Caprock, Amarillo Tascosa, Lubbock HS, Lubbock Coronado, Lubbock Monterey
District 4-3A DI begins this week: Bowie, Boyd, Iowa Park, Paradise, Peaster, Ponder, Vernon
