It would not take the Longhorns long to score as Jared Thomas would crush a home run to left center field in the bottom of the 1st. Drew Woodcox would respond with his home run for the Red Raiders in the top of the 2nd

Play would continue until the Vanderbilt transfer Jack O’Dowd would call his name for a home run for the Longhorns, thus making the score 2-1 Texas at the bottom of the 3rd. Kyle Robinson would walk a runner for Texas before the next batter would take his pitch launching it between the shortstop and centerfielder. Having two runners on base, Max Belyeu would send the ball down the right line bringing in two runners and making the score 4-1 Longhorns. Texas Tech would not run away from this fight;

The Red Raiders would go on to have a runner at 1st and 2nd with two outs at the top of the 4th inning. When Austin Greene would send the ball out past left field for the home run making his total 8 for the season. The score would become 4-4 and no team would break away from the other. At the top of the 5th inning, T.J. Pompey blasted the ball deep center field thinking he would have a home run of his own. Where Will Gasparino would climb the ladder and haul the ball in before it went over the fence. T.J. would tip his hat to Gasparino before heading to the dugout.

The game would remain tied until the 9th inning. A sacrificial bunt would send a runner to second, setting up Cade McGee for a home run to left field breaking the game open, and making the 6-4 Tech. All three Longhorns batters would send the ball into play, and all would be called out. Finishing the game with a Red Raiders victory. The Red Raiders would look to play the #2 team in the Big 12 Oklahoma State in the next round.
