Randal Ray Rodgers, 74, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 8, 1950, in Brownfield, Texas, Randal was a wild child,  all he wanted to do was be outside playing ball or causing trouble. Later in life he was the man with words of wisdom. The calm after every storm.  He didn’t have to say much because his presence meant he cared. He spent well over 50 years working in the oil field and later managed the Silver Bullet, where he built friendships and shared stories until his retirement in 2020.

Randal married the love of his life Rebecca “Becky” Rodgers on February 12, 1977, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He is survived by his wife Becky; son Jeff Rodgers and his wife Angie, and their son Tyler; daughter Lacey Rodgers, and her sons Kris Rodgers and fiancé Megan Shaw, and Jaxson Graham. He is also survived by his brother Bruce Rodgers and wife Angela, and their daughter Macy Rodgers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Barbara Rodgers, and his brother Kelly Kirk.

Randal had a deep love for golf, not just playing it but watching it 4 days week from sunup till sundown.  Everyone knew not to touch his remote, and that was even true upon his last days. Sports, all sports in person or on TV — especially anything involving his beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders. Whether it was football, basketball, or even track, he followed the Red Raiders faithfully from home. That same unwavering support extended to his grandkids. He never missed a single event and even adapted to “stupid technology” just to watch his youngest grandson play baseball from afar. He was able to witness his little buddy beat his home-run record, but that wasn’t hard to do since he only had one. He told the same stories over and over again— tales of Mickey Joplin, Rusty Baggett, Guy Ballew, his brother Bruce, and so many golfing buddies and growing up in Brownfield and on the camp in Wellman, Texas. They never got old. His memories of the drive-in and small-town life painted a rich picture of a life well-lived.

Above all else, Randal was devoted to his family. His kids and grandkids meant the world to him, but nothing compared to the love he had for Becky. If there is such a thing as coming back, he always said he’d want to come back as Becky’s dog — that’s how well he knew he’d be loved and very well fed.

Randal was a Christian and lived his life with pride, humor, and heart. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter and many Rodgers breaks, that will live on through his family.

If he ever won the lottery, he wanted to donate a large proration to St. Jude’s, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Randal’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

A celebration of Randal’s life will be held at 5:00 P.M Friday, August 15, 2025 in the Agape Funeral Chapel, 6625 W. 19th St., Lubbock, Texas 79407.
