South Plains Workforce Development Board received a National Dislocated Worker Grant in the amount of $571,645 to service customers who have been laid off from the Oil and Gas industry or a related field.Our services focus on getting Dislocated Workers back to work at wages comparable to those they were earning before the layoff.

South Plains Workforce Development Board received a National Dislocated Worker Grant in the amount of $571,645 to service customers who have been laid off from the Oil and Gas industry or a related field.Our services focus on getting Dislocated Workers back to work at wages comparable to those they were earning before the layoff.We use a variety of tools to accomplish this such as:
- Career counseling with professional employment representatives
- Employment workshops to brush up on job search techniques
- Individualized training opportunities, including vocational education training in demandoccupations
- Support services
- Relocation assistance after training is completed
Eligibility Requirements to qualify for our dislocated worker services include:
- Live in one of the fifteen counties (Bailey, Cochran, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza,Hale, Hockley, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Terry, or Yoakum)
- Have lost your job in the Oil industries or related field due to no fault of your own (by reduction in force, reorganization, closure, etc.)
- Either be eligible for, currently receiving, or have exhausted unemployment insurancebenefits
- Be motivated to return to work
