Funeral mass for Mario Ortiz Vaquera, 64, will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the St. William’s Catholic Church of Denver City with Father Heriberto Mercado saying mass. Services will be under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City. Interment will follow in the Denver City Memorial Park. He passed away December 2, 2016 in Lubbock.
Mario was born September 12, 1952 in Durango, Mexico to Aurelio Vaquera Reza and Guadalupe Ortiz Guzman. He married Blanca Tijerina on January 19, 1974 in Homestead, Florida. Mario was a oildfield operator for WLP and was a member of the St. William’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanca, on March 25, 2014 and his granddaughter, Alyssa Vaquera, on March 10, 2012.
Mario is survived by a son, Tomas Vaquera of Denver City, TX; three daughters, Selva Barrientos and her husband Pedro, Griselda Aguirre and her husband Edgar, Rosalinda Vaquera, all of Denver City; his father, Aurelio Vaquera of Durango, Mexico; five brothers, Juan Gerardo Vaquera of Durango, Mexico, Bulmaro Vaquera, Enrique Vaquera, both of Denver City, Jose Vaquera of Durango, Mexico, Eduardo Garcia Ortiz of Denver City, and three grandchildren, Cristian Barrientos, Liv Barrientos, and Liam Aguirre. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
