Making a Difference

Do you ever get the sense that time is moving so very fast? Do you think that the older you get, the faster it moves? I surely do. When I was a kid, it seemed that time moved so slowly, but now, not so much! The interesting thing about time is that it actually moves at the same pace constantly, we just perceive it differently as we grow older. Why do you think that is?

My thought is that the older we get, the more we appreciate where we have been, so it seems that we are moving more quickly away from that. Gale and I have talked often about the loss of loved ones and how, for a time, it seemed that they were walking further and further away. On those days when the pain is so fresh, everyday seems like they are getting further from us. But, as I have grown older, I can now sense that I am walking closer and closer to them. As Gale often says, “One day closer!” And that is true! Praise God for that.

But, our time here on earth is very short in the big scheme of things. We are just here for blink of the eye, when you compare our lives to time itself. Since we have such a short time here, we should be dedicated to using our time wisely.

There is a beautiful song written by Gloria Gaither that speaks so well to how we, as God’s forgiven children, should live.

“I then shall live as one who’s been forgiven;

I’ll walk with joy to know my debts are paid.

I know my name is clear before my Father;

I am His child, and I am not afraid.

So greatly pardoned, I’ll forgive my brother,

The law of love I gladly will obey.

I then shall live as one who’s learned compassion;

I’ve been so loved that I’ll risk loving too.

I know how fear builds walls instead of bridges;

I’ll dare to see another’s point of view.

And when relationship demand commitment,

Then I’ll be there to care and follow through.

Your kingdom come around and through and in me;

Your power and glory, let them shine through me;

Your Hallowed name, O may I bear with honor,

And may Your living Kingdom come in me.

The Bread of Life, O may I share with honor,

And may You feed a hungry world through me.”

Live a life that makes a difference!

(Take the time to find this song and listen. Powerful.)
