The junior varsity Mustang baseball team pounded Kermit pitching for 18 hits in route to a 28- 5 win Monday on the Yellowjackets home turf.
The scoring started early for the Mustangs when they plated 13 runs in the top of the 1st inning. After failing to score in the 2nd they pushed across 11 more in the 3rd for a 24-0 lead. After Kermit got on the board with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th the Mustangs added 4 more in the top of the 6th. The Yellowjackets closed out the scoring with 2 more in their bottom half of the inning.
Chad Dyck led the Mustangs hitting attack with 4 hits, 4 runs scored and 3 RBI’s. Daven Blanco and Giovanni Villa both finished with 3 hits, Darren Pacheco, Spencer Marion, and Jimmy Gonzales all had 2 hits, and Evan Rios and Gehrig Curtis both had 1 hit.
Villa also had 3 RBI’s and Rios, Pacheco, Marion, and Gonzales all finished with 2 runs batted in.
Blanco went the first 5 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, struck out 7 and had one base on balls. Gonzales pitched the final inning and gave up 2 runs on 1 hit, struck out 1 and walked 1.
They hosted this same Kermit team on Saturday in double header starting at 10 am.
