Elizabeth Janette Link of Andrews, and formerly of Brownfield, passed away Friday, May 8th, at Permian Regional Care Center in Andrews. She was born
November 9th, 1928, in Munday, Texas, to Oscar and Bera Spann. She graduated from Munday High School, where she was a cheerleader for the mighty Munday Moguls.
Elizabeth married David Conrad Link on August 15, 1948, in Munday. They were married 61 years. She loved travelling and camping with her husband and children throughout the western United States. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University and taught 4th grade in the Brownfield ISD for 28 years until her retirement. After retirement, she and her husband spent time in the summer at South Fork, Co., and at their RV in Ruidoso, NM. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed feeding people at family gatherings. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano at the care center while she was able. She was a member the Retired Teachers Association and The Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Brownfield. She enjoyed working in her flower bed and loved visiting with her friends and neighbors in Brownfield.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband David Link, her brother Oscar Spann Jr., and her daughter Deborah Fowler.
She survived by her sister Bera Johnson of Abilene, her brother George Spann and his wife Patsy of Ennis, sister-in-law Louise Spann of Denton, sons Edward Link of Lubbock, George Link and his wife Vlinda of Andrews, grandson Aaron Link of Denver, Co., and his daughter Claire, granddaughter Cathy Gray and her husband Nathan of Andrews and their daughters Hailey and Hannah, and grandson Jon Link and his wife Tricia of Abilene and their daughter Rylee, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Andrews at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 13th, with Pastor Brant O’Conner and Don McWhorter of Brownfield officiating. Burial will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield. Funeral arrangements are with McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
