Commissioners Court meets, reports and contracts were topic of discussion

The Terry County Commissioner Court met Monday morning May 8, 2023, with a light agenda. After the call to order by Judge Tony Serbantez, the Court would have an invocation and have the pledges. There were no public comments and the Court paid all bills necessary. The Court moved on to accept and approve the monthly reports from each county office.

According to Justice of the Peace Judge Angie Garza, the office brought in a total of $30,850.18 for the month of April 2023. There was $4,825.10 in cash, $2,748.00 in checks, $3,868.00 in money orders, and $19,409.08 in direct deposits. There was no jail time or community service to pay off any fines.

The Terry County Sheriff’s Dept. had a total of 146 calls. 10 of the call were emergency and 134 were non-emergency. There were two misdials. According to Sheriff Tim Click, TCSO had 14 reported offenses with 10 being cleared. There was $92,479.59 in property stolen and $85,000 of that was recovered. The classification of offenses was one of each, burglary of a building, criminal mischief of over $1500/under $20K, theft of property over $750/under $2500, theft of materials – aluminum; bronze; copper; brass under $20K, terroristic threat of family or household, criminal mischief over $2500/under $30K, stealing/receiving stolen check, forgery of financial instrument over $750/under $2500, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, assault of family/house member impede breath/circulation, and evading arrest detention with vehicle. There were three bail jumpings and failure to appear.

TCSO received 24 civil warrants and served 16 of them. There were 10 subpoenas received and 9 served. There were 12 criminal warrants received and two served. Seven of the warrants came out of the County Court Office and five came out of the District Court Office. There are still 10 outstanding warrants. TCSO also had nine arrests.

The last item was for the Court to approve the extension of the Lone Star State Bank (LSSB) contract. According to County Treasurer Andrea Perry, when Prosperity Bank takes full control of LSSB the contract will still be in good standing.

The meeting was adjourned. All members of the Court were present.
