Brownfield Lady Cub Volleyball

The Lady Cubs entered district play rested and eager to compete; however, their first district game of the season at Denver City did not go as hoped, as they fell to the #14 Fillies in three sets. On Saturday, they traveled to Crane and secured a district win in five sets, bringing their district record to 1-1 and their overall record to 5-15.

This week, the Lady Cubs will host back-to-back home games. On Tuesday night, they will face Coahoma, another team with a 1-1 district record. Coahoma lost to #25 Compass 3-0 but won against Lamesa 3-0, holding an overall record of 18-9. Both the Lady Cubs and Coahoma have played a few common opponents this season, with each team recording wins against Olton and Tahoka and losses to Wink. Additionally, Coahoma achieved a 2-0 victory over Big Spring, while Brownfield suffered a 3-2 loss. This matchup has the potential to go to five sets on Teacher Appreciation Night.

On Saturday, the Lady Cubs will remain at home to take on the winless Lamesa Golden Tors, who have a 0-19 record. According to MaxPreps, three games remain unreported: against Littlefield, Dimmitt, and Grady. Both teams have faced several mutual opponents this season, including Estacado, Frenship Memorial, Littlefield, Ropes, and Olton. Brownfield recorded wins against Estacado and Olton, while Lamesa lost to all of these common teams. With the advantage of playing at home, the Lady Cubs hope to improve their district record to 3-1 by the end of the week.

District 3-3A Standings

Wellman-Union Lady Cat Volleyball

Last week, the Lady Cats experienced mixed results in their games. In their much-anticipated district debut, they triumphed with a convincing 3-0 set victory over Loop, showcasing strong teamwork and skill. Unfortunately, their next challenge came against the #14 ranked Klondike at their home court, where they faced a tougher opponent and ultimately fell in their second district game. Currently, the Lady Cubs hold a record of 1-1 in district competition and 11-13 overall for the season.

This week, the Lady Cats have a combination of home and away games lined up. On Tuesday night, Wellman-Union will play host to Grady at their home gym. The two teams have not crossed paths with any common opponents this season, making the match intriguing. Wellman-Union brings significant experience to the court, having competed in 24 games this season, compared to Grady’s 10 games. Given their experience and preparation, the Lady Cats are optimistic they can secure a victory in three straight sets.

On Saturday, the Lady Cats will hit the road to take on Wilson, a new competitor in their district. The Lady Stangs are still searching for their first victory this season, having played only 11 full matches and participated in two tournaments. Given Wellman-Union’s superior experience, this matchup is expected to be heavily influenced by their ability to execute well under pressure. With this advantage, the hope is that the Lady Cats can emerge from Saturday’s game with a 3-1 record in district play.
