I made a long drive across Texas yesterday. Texas is big! Not sure if you were aware of that. Texas is just about the only state that you can drive for 8 hours and still be in the state. I think it takes about 13 hours to drive Texas from the very north to the very south. That is a pretty good size state! I have always been proud to say I am from Texas. And to be honest, if you have had the pleasure of hearing me speak, I really don’t usually have to tell anyone where I am from. I have had people on the phone who just hear me speak and say, “Oh you are from Texas!” I don’t know if that is good or bad, but I am too old to change my accent and I really do like people knowing where I am from without me telling them.
The same is true with being God’s kid. I like for people to be able to tell who I belong to without me having to tell them. As I was driving yesterday, I was listening to the Bible app I have. Part of what I heard was about Moses after he returned from the mountain from spending time with God. When he came down, his face was glowing! The people could tell he had been with God. I so love this story! Moses didn’t even know he was glowing. He ended up putting a veil over his face to keep from alarming the people.
Do you look like you have been with God? Our time with God should be reflected in our lives. Our lives should glow with the very presence of God! I mean seriously, Moses was just a guy who allowed God to use him. He was no different that any of us, as far as being just a normal human. But because of his relationship with God, and the fact that he allowed himself to be used by God, his life had a glow.
That is just so very special. How do we get ourselves to “glow” with the presence of God in our lives? Well, first of all we need to be pursuing that relationship. It does not need to be seen as just a box to check saying we spent time in God’s Word today. It needs to be a hunger for Him. An absolute starving to death hunger for time with God. Are you hungry for God right now? Do you have that ache in your life that you need to soothe with some time with God?
Oh what a difference we could make in our world if we truly did have that hunger for God and that sense of being absolutely saturated with Him so much so that the people around us can just tell to whom we belong! Hunger for God! Then pursue Him with all that you have. It will make a difference!
