Funeral Services for Mitzi Gay McElroy, 63, of Brownfield will be held at 2pm Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church with Eric Martinez and Steve Carter officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Mitzi McElroy passed from this life into her Savior’s arms on Saturday, October 3, 2026. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She dearly loved to do things for her children and grandchildren whom she loved with her whole heart. Mitzi loved to sing for Jesus. Until later in her life, when she couldn’t get out much, she loved to sing with the Church and at Walks to Emmaus. She was known for doing things for others with no need of recognition. She loved spending time with her mother, sisters, aunts and uncles almost weekly. She loved baking for family occasions and making Christmas candy, despite the fact that she was diabetic.
She is survived by her husband Jeff McElroy of Brownfield, Tx. Her children Eric McElroy and wife Jamie of Amarillo, Tx, Ashley Martin and husband Corbitt of Lubbock, Tx. Her grandchildren Aymree McElroy of Pampa, Tx, Ian McElroy of Pampa, Tx, Camden and Trenton Martin of Lubbock, Tx. Her mother, Phyllis Slaughter and husband Burke of Brownfield, Tx. Her sisters Vnya Powell and husband Bob of Arlington, Tx, Laura Gayer and husband Brett of Haslet, Tx. She had numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
