A Championship in Boston

In the grand scheme of things, the Dallas Mavericks were unable to keep up with the Boston Celtics’ high scoring. In previous articles, I mentioned that the Mavs needed more on offense than what they have. I said that P.J. Washington needs to play big for them to have a shot at winning the championship and last night he had four points. Kyrie Irving played abysmal as he was 5-16 and had fifteen points.

The narrative will slowly start to shift for Irving and the sportscaster will say one thing or another about his play on the court. Luka played as well as anybody could in his situation, with twelve rebounds and twenty-eight points. But the Celtics three-point shooting was just too much for them to handle. As I also mentioned before the Mavs cannot let them turn into the Boston State Warriors and shoot the three-ball and that’s exactly what happened.

The Celtics shot 13-39 and had a 3-point percentage of 33.3%. Jayson Tatum accounted for 31 points, and Jaylon Brown had 21 points. The third-highest scorer Jrue Holliday matched the Mavs’ second-leading scoring with 15. Brown would be named the NBA Finals MVP, rightly so. He sometimes carried the team, making plays and hitting shots when the team needed it most.

One thing I’m most curious about is, are people going to say that this is Jaylon’s team or is it Tatum’s. Is that going to be a distraction next season, is there going to be a battle of egos cause we’ve seen it before, and it never goes well. Well, that can all wait as Boston celebrates their basketball champions cause we all know their football team won’t sniff a championship for decades to come.
