Brownfield WORKS! Career & Job Fair coming soon

There is an event coming, you will not want to miss. The 2023 Brownfield Works! Career and Job Fair.

This event will be on Thursday, April 20 at the Brownfield High School Gym on the beautiful concourse level. From 2 – 4 p.m., will be a time for students to come through, and from 4:30 – 7 p.m. will be open for anyone looking for a job or just curious about career opportunities in the area.

The event is being sponsored by Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation, Workforce Solutions South Plains, Brownfield Chamber of Commerce, and Brownfield ISD.

Executive Director of BIDCorp Gina Kelly stated, “We are really looking forward to this event. It has been a couple of years since we have had anything like this, so we are very excited. We are hoping that those looking for jobs will find just what they are looking for at this event.”

According to Kelly, the 2-4 p.m. time slot for students will, hopefully, allow students to make some contacts with those in the workforce and get some information on what it takes to pursue various careers. “We are really hoping to get students as young as freshmen to start thinking about life after their school years are over, and begin preparing now for that.”

BISD is stepping up with incentives for the students. Those who get signatures from at least 15 different representatives will have their names placed in drawings for some really cool prizes. Dr. Gionet Cooper, Principal at BHS stated, “This is going to be a great thing for our students. We appreciate the businesses taking the time to talk with these students.”

The evening session will begin just as soon as students are released for the day. This time will be open for students from area schools, as well as adults who are looking for work.

“So far, we have about 30 businesses that have signed up to participate. We still have room for more, if any others would like to take part. Businesses can call Workforce at 806.637.1223, or call BIDCorp at 806.470.4192,” stated Kelly.

If you do not have a resume, Workforce will create a contact card on-site for you.

Some of the businesses or organizations registered to participate include the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Apex Secure Care, EJM Construction, Warren Cat, United Supermarkets, Birdsong Peanuts, UMC Healthcare Systems, and many, many more.

Again, please call one of the above numbers if you would like to participate in this. It is always good to have a file of resumes, even if you are not looking for an employee right now.

Let’s show all these businesses how Brownfield Works!
