Lady Cubs ready to start district play

The # 6 ranked Lady Cubs will begin district play on Friday, December 17 at Friona. The Ladies swept through district play last year on their way to the State Championship. Even though they dropped two games in a row, the Ladies look to continue that distsrict sweep this year on their way to defending their State Championship title.

After losing by two to Monterey last week, the Ladies welcomed the 5A #4 ranked Amarillo High Lady Sandies to town on Saturday. Unfortunately, the squad from Amarillo proved to be too much for the Lady Cubs, as they lost 72-52.

Gabi Fields led the way with 22 points. Tia Johnson had 10 and Deja Johnson pitched in 9.

On Tuesday, December 14, the Ladies traveled to New Home to face the 2A #7 ranked New Home Lady Leopards. The outcome was much better the for Lady Cubs as they defeated New Home 59-41.

Tia had 15 points, with Gabi following up with 13. Ashley Ramirez came in with 12.

The Ladies will face Friona in a 6:15 matchup on Friday and will then travel to Portales, New Mexico on Monday, December 20 for a 5:30 p.m. contest.

There will be no rest for the Ladies, as they travel to Dimmitt the next day for another district game on Tuesday, December 21 for a 2:15 game.

Leading the Lady Cubs are Head Coach Michelle Wyatt, and Assistants Shea Myatt, and Jacei Barrera.
