The Cubs have been playing some good basketball, as of late, and it looks like the tough preseason schedule Coach Zayne McPherson put together might just be paying off.
The Cubs faced Tulia in the Tulia Tournament and won a close one 87-84.
The Cubs had five players in double figures on the night. Jeremiah Tealer, Kyle Suarez, and Devin Hines all had 15 points. Malik Mason had 11, and JC Carillo pitched in 11.
The Cubs then faced Spearman and fell in a tight contest. The Cubs were down 27 – 15 at the half, but stormed back in the second half, outscoring Spearman in both the final quarters. It just wasn’t enough, as the Cubs fell 51-52.
Devin had 15 points to lead scoring. JC made 7 out of 9 from the free throw line to come in with 7.
The Cubs fell to Olton 76-39, before defeating Claude 87-27 to round out the Tulia Tournament. (No stats were available for these games)
The Cubs faced Tulia one more time on Tuesday night and this time, Tulia took the win with a 72-69 final score.
It did rain three’s for the Cubs as they hit 13 on the night. Devin had seven of those to lead scoring with 31 points. A season high for him. Kyle had 11 points. Jermiah brought in nine points on the night.
The Cubs will be at home on Friday, December 17 at 4:30 against Big Spring.
They will be in the Canyon Tournament December 29-30 before starting district play against Muleshoe on December 31 at 2 p.m.
