2026 South Plains UWCD Water Conservation Calendars Available

by Eric

Come and Get it! The 2026 South Plains Underground Water Conservation District calendars are available and ready to be picked up.

Each year, as part of the Southern Ogallala Conservation and Outreach Program (SOCOP), the South Plains UWCD conducts a calendar artwork contest open to all Terry County fourth and fifth-graders. Students from Brownfield, Meadow, and Wellman-Union participated in the contest, with exceptional entries from all campuses. Winners were recognized at the end of the school year in May 2025 and received their prize money and a certificate of achievement. The calendar features original student artwork promoting water conservation.

Sadie Martin of Wellman-Union Elementary, a 5th grader in Spring 2025, designed the 2026 cover entitled “Save Water”. This year’s cover artwork is especially appropriate as SPUWCD works diligently to inform community members about the importance of our water resources and help them to “rethink” their water usage. Additionally, twelve other winners, representing all three Terry County school districts, were awarded, and are featured on the monthly pages of the calendar. Winners from the Spring 2025 contest include: Daleyza Rios (Jan 2026), Jaxon Berch (Feb 2026), Camsten Gutierrez (March 2026), David T Andres (April 2026), Owen Neufeld (May 2026), Caitlyn Neufeld (June 2026), Aliana Perez (July 2026), Regina Martinez (Aug 20226), Raylen Ledezma (Sept 2026), Nadia Flores (Oct 2026), Rebecca Rempel (Nov 2026), and Damian Lares (Dec 2026).
