John Mark is married to Kelly Addison, who is a teacher, and they have three children.

John Mark said his favorite thing as a kid was going to the farm with his dad. He enjoyed every aspect of it.

He would go to his grandparents house and his grandfather would tell him stories about being a farmer. Addison says, “that’s how he got here. It’s never really been an occupation it’s just a lifestyle. It’s what we do.”

Addison planted his first crop in 1987 and has planted just about every thing since. This year he has wheat, cotton, peanuts, milo, corn, pumpkins and watermelons.

He says “anything that grows in this area we will try.”

Crop rotation is a big part of Addison’s operation, with emphasis on peanuts and cotton. He is farming 4,600 acres at this time.

The lack of water makes farming challenging and therefore he farms half irrigate and half drip.

John Mark and Kelly also have several different animals at home that they take care of, including honey bees and chickens.

Congratulations to John Mark, Kelly and the kids.
