Wellman-Union “little guys” get a taste of the big time!

by admin

The Wellman-Union Wildcat flag football team had a great opportunity recently when they were able to hold practice at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. That is quite a change from a six-man football field near a cotton gin.

The team of 5 and 6 year-olds is coached by Jerry Worley and Kevin Atzbach. They recently won first place in their division by going 6-1, and will be heading into the playoffs with that number one seed.

These guys are so much fun and so excited about what they are doing. Their first playoff game will be this Saturday at O’Donnell at 2 p.m. when they face Klondike. The winner will play in the Super Bowl at Borden County on November 14. They will play the winner of the Borden County vs Sands game.

Get after ’em Wildcats!! Bring home the gold!
