BROWNFIELD, Texas — Drivers traveling through Brownfield next week should be prepared for possible delays as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) conducts routine road maintenance along US 62/82.
Work is scheduled for Monday, August 17, along US 62/82 from East Lake Street to Magnolia Avenue.
TxDOT crews will perform scrub seal operations, which will require daytime lane closures and several short-term side street closures throughout the work zone. Motorists should expect slower-moving traffic and possible delays while the work is underway.
A scrub seal involves applying a layer of asphalt or emulsion to the roadway, followed by a layer of sand or small aggregate. The process helps fill cracks in the pavement, prevents water from entering the roadbed, and helps extend the life of the roadway.
Drivers traveling through the area are encouraged to slow down, stay alert, and watch for workers and traffic control signs for both their safety and the safety of TxDOT crews.
The work is scheduled to take place weather permitting.
